Capital School District putting mental, physical health first with new campaign

DELAWARE – Health is a top priority for the Capital School District as they recently launched their Supporting Our Wellbeing Campaign.

Its set out to remedy the aftermath of COVID with an emphasis on mental and physical health. Superintendent Dr. Vilicia Cade says following the COVID-19 pandemic many people suffered from increased anxiety and depression.

She added that with this campaign and awareness of the teacher shortage, the district will be more intentional about identifying the needs of everyone.  “We hope to increase understanding of what trauma is and how trauma unfolds and manifests itself,” Dr. Cade said. “We’re hoping to improve culture, climate, we’re hoping to improve our ability to have longevity in our service.”

Dr. Cade tells us her hope is that the campaign will help connect students – staff and parents within the community.
