GEORGETOWN, Del. – Valerie Jones Giltner is the projected winner in the special election for Delaware’s 37th Representative District.

Giltner, the Republican candidate in the election, was victorious over her Democratic opponent, Jane Hovington by a vote of 1,805 to 1,068, according to the unofficial results released Thursday evening by the Delaware Department of Elections.

The seat opened up last month after now former State Rep. Ruth Briggs King resigned after announcing that she was moving to a new home outside the district.

The 37th District encompasses parts of Georgetown, Millsboro, and Lewes in Sussex County.
