Applications now open for Food Bank of DE’s free workforce training programs

MILFORD, Del. – The Food Bank of Delaware is just a little over a month away from cutting the ribbon on their new Milford facility. Ahead of that, applications are now open for free training programs the space will offer.

The food bank has offered its culinary school since 2013 and their warehousing and logistics program since 2018 at the Newark location. The new facility will now allow residents of Kent and Sussex County to take advantage of that logistics program.

In just 14 weeks, Vice President of Communications Kim Turner said students can get connected to new careers that pay a great wage.  “According to the County Economic Development Department, warehousing and logistics is one of the fattest industries in Kent County,” Turner said.

“Our vision is a community free of hunger and we know in order to get to that place we need to make sure people in our community have access to skills training and access to new jobs.”

Those interested are encouraged to sign up for either program prior to the January 2nd deadline.
