Wor-Wic offering cyber security course for seniors, providing tools for safe web browsing

SALISBURY, Md.- Wor-Wic Community College is offering a new cyber security course looking to give older adults the need-to-know information on how to safely browse the web.

The course covers a variety of topics from password management, to how to properly store data, tips to spot fake social media accounts, and more.

School officials told 47ABC seniors can really benefit from the course as often times they’re the most vulnerable to falling victim to cyber scams. “It’s really bad because they’ll sometimes take a person’s life savings. I’ve had students who’ve lost more than $10,000,” Computer Coordinator Perry Angelonga said.

“I want to make all students, but especially that population, aware of the things these folks use.”

The three-week course meets on Wednesdays starting November 15th from 1:00 p.m.-3:00.

Tuition is free for Maryland seniors, but certain class fees do apply.
