Wicomico County Host Veterans Day Ceremony

Salisbury, Md- The Wicomico County War Memorial Committee will be hosting at ceremony honoring military veterans on Saturday, November 11th at 11 a.m.

The ceremony will take place at the Wicomico War Veterans Memorial, located in front of the Wicomico Civic Center located at 500 Glen Avenue in Salisbury.

We spoke to Anthony Sarbanes of the Wicomico County War Memorial Committee who spoke on the importance of honoring veterans with both ceremonies like the one being held on the 11th, and memorials such as the Wicomico County War Memorial: “Its important that we have a place we can go to in order to pay our respects to those who served in the military…”

Stating that physical reminders like this memorial can be important to those closest to these veterans: “It’s very touching emotionally when they will go up and touch the plaque. In may cases its a family member. Just to be able to go up  and put their hand on the name (of their loved one).”

The ceremony will include music an prayer in remembrance to all Veterans.

The ceremony may be cancelled due to inclement weather.
