Local food pantry seeking donations, says need for assistance is growing

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – One local food pantry is now calling out to the community for help following news that their state grant funding has been cut.

Catholic Charities Seton Center told us that funding helps supplement food they receive from the local food bank.

Program Manager Jennifer Trager said the need for assistance they’re seeing is increasing, serving upwards of 350 families monthly. The center also operates three programs from their pantry. With many of their shelves now empty, Trager added they’re also looking into building out their relationships with local partners.

“My team and I are kind of crunching so we’re not in this situation again because if we can’t serve in the most simple form, which is serving food, that impacts a lot of people,” Trager said.

Trager says after posting on social media, they’ve already seen support coming in from community partners and other organizations.

The center also offers a choice pantry, as well as the emergency food that comes from the food bank, which they say allows families to choose the food they want.
