Smyrna’s Richardson leads volleyball all-state selections

DELAWARE – Smyrna Senior Anna Richardson has been named the Delaware girls volleyball player of the year just days after her team won the DIAA state title. It’s a culmination of the most successful year for the Henlopen Conference in girls volleyball.

Richardson’s Eagles became the first Henlopen Conference team to win the girls volleyball state title in DIAA history when they defeated Ursuline in four sets.

Richardson was joined by Elena Millaway, of Delmarva Christian, on the first team.

Her teammate, Eliza Schneider, earning second team honors. She was joined by Caesar Rodney’s Melissa Eddy.

A third Smyrna Eagle senior, Elise Carter, was named to the third team.

In an historic semifinal match, Smyrna was matched up with Caesar Rodney. Riders head coach Jake Bluhm was named the coach of the year.
