Rehoboth Christmas tree is smaller, but bright as usual
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Rehoboth Beach is getting ready to get merry and bright, as the annual Christmas tree lighting is approaching. It takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving, at 7 p.m.
The lighting comes with a sing along to continue previous traditions. However, unlike previous years, the set up for the tree came with some complications.
Rehoboth Beach Communications Manager Lynne Coan says everything was going smoothly with the transport of the forty foot tree, at least at first.
“Then as we were lifting the tree of the trailer to put in into the stand at the bandstand, it snapped all of a sudden, a very loud snap,” Coan said.
Coan says they are still able to use the top two thirds of the tree, meaning it will stand around 25 feet tall. Plus, the tree was donated to the city by local residents.
