Police investigating fatal motor vehicle crash in Dover
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 50-year-old Camden man.
Police responded to the 800 block of North DuPont Highway at around 11:30 p.m. for a reported crash involving two vehicles. At the scene, officers found the 50-year-old victim in his vehicle, suffering from injuries as a result of the crash. He was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment but was later pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family and relatives.
Further investigation revealed that a 2003 Buick Century, driven by a 20-year-old Smyrna woman, was traveling northbound on North DuPont Highway near McDonalds. At the same time, a 2000 Toyota Corolla, being driven by the victim, was making a left turn from southbound North DuPont Highway, across the northbound travel lanes, trying to turn into the McDonald’s. As the Toyota made the turn, the Buick reportedly crashed into the Toyota, causing it to spin into the McDonalds parking lot. The Buick subsequently lost control and crossed over the grassy median before coming to a rest on the westbound side of North DuPont Highway.
