Pittsville couple prepare to light up the night, Thanksgiving day

PITTSVILLE, Md. – Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but some folks are already getting in the Christmas spirit.

Marsha Newton has been lighting up the town of Pittsville with her Christmas display for the last six years.

Newton said her month-long holiday walk-through display is a blast from the past, and gives local families something fun to do, and a chance to tell Santa everything they want for Christmas.

“When I was a kid, my parents would pack up the car and we would drive around looking at all the Christmas lights,” Newton said. “You don’t see a lot of that now, so that’s kind of what we want to evoke– is happiness and the nostalgia and tradition of Christmas.”

Newton and her husband will be lighting up the display on Thanksgiving.
