Greenwood man wanted in connection to officer-involved shooting
GREENWOOD, Del. – Delaware State Police are searching for a man wanted in connection to a trooper-involved shooting Monday night.
Just before 9:30 p.m., the Kent County Governor’s Task Force and Probation and Parole located a known fugitive, identified as 27-year-old Brian Holben, driving a Jeep Cherokee in a parking lot on Hickman Road. A traffic stop was initiated on the Jeep, but Holben tried to flee by using his Jeep to push two State Police vehicles out of the way. Detectives then tried to pull Holben out of the Jeep, at which point he allegedly pointed a handgun at a detective and fired. Detectives returned fire before Holben fled on foot into a wooded area.
Police have not been able to locate Holben, who they say is considered to be armed and dangerous. He is currently wanted for first degree attempted murder, two counts of first degree reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
As per DSP standard operating procedures, the troopers who fired their weapons have been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted into the use of force.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective B. McDerby at 302-741-2821.
