Firearms investigation leads to multiple charges for Dover man
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say a man is behind bars on numerous charges stemming from a stop Tuesday afternoon.
Shortly before 4 p.m., officers were conducting a firearms investigation on 35-year-old William Caldwell, making contact with Caldwell in the 500 block of Forest Street. Police say Caldwell resisted arrest and struggled with officers, causing a head injury to one of the officers. Once he was taken into custody, police found a .380 handgun concealed inside of his waistband, as well as oxycodone.
The officer was treated for their injuries at Bayhealth Kent Campus and released.
Caldwell was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest with force, second degree assault of a law enforcement officer, and possession of a controlled substance. He was held at SCI on a $106,250 cash bail.
