Fire damages Berlin home, fire marshals investigating

BERLIN, Md. – A Berlin home was damaged after a fire broke out Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to 10723 Sinepuxent Road just after 11 a.m. for a reported house fire. Crews were able to quickly control the blaze, but remained on scene for approximately two hours to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

Worcester County Fire Marshals responded to investigate, determining that the fire began in a bedroom where a single occupant was sleeping. The occupant was reportedly taken to an area hospital for minor injuries sustained from jumping out of a window to safety.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
