Easton Middle School bomb threat under investigation

EASTON, Md. – Police in Talbot County are investigating a bomb threat at Easton Middle School Wednesday morning.

At around 9:25 a.m., front desk staff reportedly received a bomb threat via telephone, in which the caller stated that there were numerous explosive devices throughout the building that would detonate at a specific time. Students and staff were subsequently evacuated from the building, and deputies with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office responded to investigate.

Bomb-detecting K-9 teams were contacted and responded to the school. Once a K-9 scan of the building was complete, students and staff were allowed to return.

It was learned through the investigation that there were numerous similar threats to schools across the state of Maryland, including Frederick, Carroll, Charles, and Wicomico County. We’re told all identified calls were made from a New Jersey area code.
