Early morning fire heavily damages Selbyville home

SELBYVILLE, Del. – A fire that damaged a Selbyville home early Thursday morning has been ruled accidental.

The fire was reportedly shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday in the 36000 block of Mallard Drive. Firefighters with the Roxana Fire Company and mutual aid fire companies responded to battle the blaze.

The sole occupant of the home was alerted by smoke detectors and was able to escape unharmed. Further investigation revealed that the fire was accidental in nature, caused by an electrical malfunction.

There were no reported injuries. Total damage was estimated at $85,000.
