DSP Colonel receives Follow the Footsteps Award

LEWES, Del.- The Tunnel to Tower’s Foundation recognized one first responder Saturday morning for her hard work and dedication to public service.

Colonel Melissa Zelbey with the Delaware State Police received T2T’s Follow the Footsteps Award. The award honors individuals for their extraordinary service and for following in the footsteps of Stephen Siller.

Colonel Zelbey said she was completely shocked by the gesture but says she’s honored to be recognized by such a noble organization. “Certainly, as my 32-year career has unfolded, it’s been an evolution of finding ways to give back. I’m very grateful for all the ways in which we get to do that in the Delaware State Police, not only over the course of my career but how we can continue to give back moving forward,” Colonel Zelbey said.

Colonel Zelbey also told 47 ABC the award is a reflection of all the men in women of the DSP family and how they give back to the community.
