Dover man sentenced to life plus 70 years for brutal 2021 murder

DOVER, Del. – A Dover man has been sentenced to life plus 70 years for a brutal assault and murder in 2021.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ronald Suber, his girlfriend, Tori Balfour, Anna Hurst, and Brian May together ran a catalytic converter theft ring. Suber reportedly believed that Hurst provided police with incriminating information about the ring. On August 20, 2021, Suber and Balfour picked up Hurst and May and drove to a cornfield along Dyke Branch Road, where they reportedly confronted Hurst about being a “narc”. It’s reported that Suber then pulled out a gun and shot Hurst in the hand and chest as she tried to back away, all while pleading for her life. Suber also shot at May, who was hit in the foot as he escaped into the cornfield. Suber then returned to Hurst and beat her to death with a tire iron.

Suber was sentenced last month to life plus 70 years for first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with a witness, and second degree conspiracy.
