Community members gather in Berlin to raise more awareness on Buckingham Elementary School capital project

BERLIN, Md.- Parents and teachers gathered in Berlin for a march, to back Buckingham Elementary.

The state blocked funding for the build because of capacity issues at adjacent schools. Worcester county officials and school board members have been working together to try to resolve the issue, filing an appeal for the funding last month.

Community members attended the march, Friday, saying kids in the community deserve a new school, for better learning.

Tony Weeg, a concerned parent, was at the march and said he will continue to push for the project to move forward.

“This isn’t the school to get cheap on,” Weeg said. “This is the school to dig deep and invest in cause that’s what’s gonna build Worcester County for the next twenty to thirty years.”

47ABC will continue to follow the story as it progresses.
