Community comes together to send off Stephen Decatur Seahawks ahead of football state championships
WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – A joyous send off to Annapolis, by community members and students. Stephen Decatur High School is making history, playing for the first time ever in the football state championships.
“We’re so incredibly excited and proud of the hard work that this team, and this group of young men, have put in, for years now,” said football mom, Tracey Horan.
Horan, along with hundreds of other proud parents and peers, rang cowbells and waved their signs, to show support for the team. She said the Seahawks’ undefeated season prepared them for Thursday’s big game.
“This is our year and we’re confident that we are in a great position to go all the way,” Horan said. “We really want to bring this back to the community.”
Tackling such a major milestone, school counselor, Marcea Redden, said a win for the team is a win for the school. “I’m most excited about the experience for them. It’s huge for the small town, so I’m really excited for my students,” Redden said.
