Greenwood commercial building destroyed in fire

GREENWOOD, Del. – An investigation is underway following a commercial building fire in Greenwood Monday night.

The Greenwood Fire Company, along with several other agencies, including Bridgeville, Farmington, and Harrington responded to the New Process Fibre Company at around 8 p.m. for a reported fire. Crews battled the blaze for about an hour and a half before it was brought under control.

Total damage has been estimated at $100,000. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials also say that as they were responding to the fire, several rocks were thrown at their fire trucks. The full extent of the damage to the equipment is unknown at this time, and anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Greenwood Police at 302-349-4822.
