Caroling on the Circle campaign now underway, celebrates 40th anniversary
GEORGETOWN, Del.- Sussex County Government is kicking off their annual Caroling on the Circle food drive. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the initiative which helps local food pantries collect food for those in need.
Last year, they brought in more than 20,000 canned goods and non-perishable items for about a dozen local organizations.
Organizers told 47ABC they expect the need to be just as strong as ever before. “You always hope that the need is a little bit less, but the reality is that there’s always someone in the community who’s in need. It’s reassuring to have a program like Caroling on the Circle and the support of the community. Our businesses, our schools, and our civic organizations that take part in helping us each year,”
The event is set for Thursday December 7th. New this year is that it will be the lead-in to the annual tree lighting and Georgetown Christmas parade.
