Berlin Bubble Project takes small town by storm, search continues for hidden bubbles
BERLIN, Md. – Residents and visitors are flocking to the Town of Berlin in hopes of finding a Berlin Bubble.
“The Berlin Bubble Project is basically a scavenger hunt about town where hand blown glass bubbles are scattered in a variety of hidden places and nooks, in the parks and downtown,” says Ivy Wells, Director of Economic and Community Development for the Town of Berlin.
Jeff Auxer of Jeff Auxer Designs created 25 hand blown glass bubbles for the project. Wells says one evening she went around hiding the baubles around town. The project was meant to engage locals and Wells says it has been blowing up online. It’s finder’s keepers, so if you do happen to get your hands on one, they ask you to scan the qr code attached to log your prize. You share a picture of the bubble you found and exactly where you found it.
The Town of Berlin Arts and Entertainment District has posted location clues on their social media. The official website explains:
Bubbles will be hidden outside on Main Street, Jefferson Street, Gay Street, Commerce Street, Artisan’s Green, William Street, Bay Street, in and around trails at Stephen Decatur Park, Henry Park & Burbage Park. Bubbles are never hidden on Private Residential Property, and you would never have to dismantle anything to find a one. Please leave property undisturbed! Bubbles are not hidden on the grounds of a church or the museum.
As of Thursday morning, at least 16 bubbles had been found. Organizers say if you are headed out to hunt, all of the bubbles have been found at Henry Park and Artisan’s Green.
