Beaver Run Elementary to bring Cool ‘N Calm room to school

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Beaver Run Elementary School is getting some grant funding to bring on a valuable asset.

the Cool ‘N Calm room is a concept created by the school’s mental health team, and grant money will help create a safe space for students to go if they’re experiencing mental health issues.

Principal Curtis Twilley hopes by bringing the Cool ‘N Calm room to Beaver Run, students will now have a safe space to regulate their emotions.

“Social emotional learning at this point is a very important piece of a child’s education,” Twilley said. “A child needs to learn how they can regulate themselves, so they can stay calm and so they can learn.”

The room is expected to be open for student use early next month.
