Adult use marijuana sales bring in hundreds of millions in revenue
Md. – Maryland dispensaries say their adult use sales have skyrocketed since recreational marijuana was legalized in July.
Statewide, sales reached 270 million dollars in the first quarter. Recreational marijuana sales are expected to reach 821 million dollars across Maryland by the end of the year.
Adult use marijuana now makes up 60 percent of Maryland’s total cannabis revenue, according to state officials.
Chantelle Elsner, President of the North East at TerrAscend, says, “Marylanders are very well versed in cannabis and we continue to share additional knowledge with them as new products come on.”
Wendy Bronfein, Chief Brand Officer and Director of Public policy Curio Wellness, says “Its been a pretty steady flow of services to customers to patient, the only outside factor is that we are seeing less traffic than expected. We had advertising rights in medicine that became condensed when we moved over to adult use.”
Maryland’s medical marijuana patient count has taken a dip since the start of adult sales.
