55,000,000 Americans travelling for Thanksgiving holiday

MARYLAND – AAA predicts that more than 55 million Americans will be driving 50 miles or more over the Thanksgiving holiday.

AAA officials say that 90%, or more than 49 million people, are expected to drive to their holiday destinations.

Ragina Ali with AAA says to give yourself extra time depending on where you are traveling because of expected traffic on major roadways will be very busy, especially close to major metropolitan areas.

“We certainly know that the roads will be busy, and we are expecting that Wednesday will be the busiest, usually that time between 2:00 in the afternoon and 6:00 pm.”

Recommends to make sure your car is road ready before any long distance traveling and if you see any police, EMS or fire personnel to pull over on the side of the road.
