Xylazine to be a controlled three substance in Delaware

Delaware –  Lawmakers have extended the emergency order for Xylazine to be a controlled three substance.

It’s being mixed with illicit drugs, specifically fentanyl and heroin, and other street drugs to amplify the potency.

XylazineIt has been deemed a public threat in the first State, which is why the Secretary of State has renewed the emergency order. The renewal took effect on September 30th, and ensures the drug’s classification remains the same until upcoming legislation takes effect.

“It’s been extended for sixty more days because there was a senate bill 189, which passed that is permanent in the state of Delaware, but that does not take effect till November.

Physicians who have seen the impact of Xylazine on the human body say there are no medicinal benefits for humans. It is primarily used as a tranquilizer in animals, specifically larger animals such as horses or cows.

Meaning, not even the average veterinarian would have any use for this drug. On the street, it is commonly referred to as “tranq.” 

“This medication does a lot of damage to peoples skin when you inject it.”

Dr. Joseph Parise says “tranq is also being found with amphetamines and cocaine, people who use it can develop a quote a zombie like appearance. Dr. Parise also says that unlike with opioid overdoses, there is no antidote like narcan.
