Workers compensation insurance costs continue to decrease

DELAWARE. –  In Delaware, workers compensation insurance rates are on a steady decrease for the seventh year in a row.

Delaware used to have one of the highest workers compensation insurance costs in the nation. However, state insurance commissioner Trinidad Navarro said a new workplace safety program is pushing costs down.

Navarro says his department got input from employers, who can now opt into the program to alleviate insurance costs.

“For the last seven years, we have seen a decrease, and it partially had to do with the task force and the fee schedule,” Navarro said. “It also had to do with the partnerships that we have with companies and with our workplace safety program.”

While it does cost money to enter the program, Navarro said money saved in the long run and limiting accidents are well worth the investment.
