Worcester County Sheriff’s Office hosts canine fundraiser

OCEAN CITY, Md.- Today, community members gathered in Ocean City, to rally for police canines.

Canine Ike, with the Worcester County sheriff’s Office, was killed in the line of duty, back in 2014.

Now, the department is hosting its first fundraiser event, to raise money for police canines, during, and after their service.

Sheriff Matt Crisafulli said without police canines, communities miss a crucial piece of what keeps people safe. He wants to support the lives of the brave dogs who risk their own, every day.

“I might be biased to dogs because of our canines, but I believe that they’re the best pets in the world. They love us unconditionally, and I’m looking forward to being there, and meeting our residents, to see all the pets they’re going to be bringing,” Sheriff Crisafulli said. “As I said, they provide a crucial element to law enforcement, in keeping our counties safe and also keeping our handlers and residents safe.”
