Wicomico Night Out brings community together, grant funding supports upgrades at Indian Village Park

SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico Night Out brought out a variety of organizations and the community together at Indian Village Park Thursday evening.

The effort was put on by various community organizations, first responders, and more.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes said the park is located in a westside neighborhood that’s seen some tragedy over the past few months, but this was an opportunity to start some community building.

There will also be an announcement made that the park’s playground is set to receive some TLC.

Wicomico County received grant funding from the Maryland Department of Natural Resource’s Open Space Program for $99,000. “We’re certainly hoping that children utilize that park in a safe and productive way. We also hope that they feel connected in that community and supported by Parks & Recreation.”

Some of renovations include new additions to the basketball court and new playground equipment. States Attorney Dykes said this is just one of a series of community outreach initiatives from her office and other partners.
