Wicomico Co. School Resource Officer honored as October “First Responder Who Makes A Difference”
WICOMICO CO., Md. – 47 ABC is teaming up with four Tire Pro locations to honor first responders each month, and Corporal Jeff Heath with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is our First Responder Who Makes A Difference for October.
Heath is also a School Resource Officer who works at multiple schools in the county, but Choices Academy, an alternative school, is his main station. We’re told students there say he’s approachable, helpful, goes above and beyond, and always makes them feel like family.
Those who nominated Cpl. Heath also tell 47 ABC he helped multiple students change their view and heart towards police officers, which is an honor Cpl. Heath says he’s beyond thankful for, and just part of his and many other first responders’ efforts to bridge the gap between them and the community.
“When you get to know them on a personal level it’s not just you’re dealing with crime, you know their background and you build them up. I don’t do what I do to be nominated or receive an award, I love what I do.”
The four Tire Pro locations include Burnett White Tire Pros in Salisbury, Nock’s Tire Pros in Pocomoke, Cook’s Tire Pros in Harrington, and In & Out Tire Pros in Millsboro. The Tire Pros locations gave Cpl. Heath a gift basket filled with goodies to keep his car in tip-top shape, and he’s in the running to win a new set of tires this December.
