“The need is still here:” Local nonprofit serving homeless population in need of donations
SALISBURY, Md.- One local nonprofit says they’re in a critical need of donations to serve the homeless population, especially as cold weather approaches.
Beyond Your Walls Inc. said they’re in need of just about everything from men and women’s undergarments, hygiene products, sweaters and coats, and most importantly monetary donations to help with operations of their mobile shower unit.
The nonprofit also told us they accept gently used items. “We try to always start collecting things before it gets too cold. We rather give someone a winter coat before they get cold rather than when they’re freezing,” BYW’s Operator Leslie McGinnity said. “We thought that there wasn’t a need for us to use the shower trailer in Salisbury anymore. We’ve actually had several of the men and women experiencing homelessness tell us we needed to come back. We can back because the need is still here and its growing.”
Along with a hot shower, people can grab a free lunch.
Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1428 Salisbury, MD. You can reach out to them on their Facebook page.
Their shower service is available Tuesdays in Ocean City at the First Presbyterian Church parking lot (9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) and in Salisbury at the Community of Joy Church parking lot (1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.)
