LAUREL, Del. – Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection to a shooting in the Laurel area Wednesday night.
At around 9:40 p.m., officers with the Laurel Police Department responded to the area of 400 Pasture Lane in the Hollybrook Apartment complex for a reported shooting. When they arrived at the scene, officers located an 18-year-old woman suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was flown to a regional trauma center in serious but stable condition.
A second victim, a 21-year-old man, was also found suffering from minor facial injuries as a result of the incident. He refused EMS transport.
Further investigation led police to identify 25-year-old James Surratt as the suspect in this shooting. Surratt is currently wanted for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first degree assault, three counts of first degree reckless endangerment, and third degree assault.
Police say Surratt has ties to Millsboro and the Hollybrook Apartments. The firearm used in this incident has not been found, and police believe Surratt to be armed and dangerous. The public is warned to not approach or confront Surratt if seen and to call 911.
