Stranded boater rescued in Dorchester Co. Thursday morning

TAYLOR’S ISLAND, Md. – Maryland State Police’s Aviation Crew helped rescue a man after they say he got stranded on a small island early Thursday morning.

At around 12:40 a.m., Trooper 7, based at the St. Mary’s Airport, was called to the area of Taylor’s Island for a report of a missing boater. The request reportedly came from the Dorchester County Fire and EMS Department after they exhausted efforts searching for the subject by boat. The victim was located in his boat that had run aground in a marshy area. Troopers guided ground rescue crews to the victim’s location, but conditions proved to be inaccessible by foot or boat, and Trooper 2 was dispatched at around 1:20 a.m. for a hoist extraction.

Trooper 2 was able to successfully rescue the victim, who was evaluated by ground paramedics. He did not require treatment or transport.
