Smyrna’s Laney shines in WNBA Finals
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Smyrna High School graduate Betnijah Laney shined in her team’s game four loss to the Las Vegas Aces in the 2023 WNBA Finals.
Laney, who graduated from Smyrna in 2011, had 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in the New York Liberty’s 70-69 loss Wednesday night. She had at least 11 points in all four WNBA Finals games.
The eighth-year forward contributed 13 points-per-game to a team that had the best record in the eastern conference.
Laney is a one-time WNBA all-star. During her time in Delaware she led the Smyrna Eagles to the DIAA final four in her junior and senior seasons.
