Skateboarder injured after being hit by car in Berlin

BERLIN, Md. – Berlin Police say a skateboarder was injured after being hit by a car Friday evening.

It was determined that at around 8 p.m., a 16-year-old male from Berlin was trying to cross the intersection of Route 113 and Route 376 on a skateboard against the pedestrian stop sign. A vehicle being driven by a 71-year-old Berlin man was traveling southbound on Route 113 with a green signal when the skateboarder crossed into its path and was subsequently hit.

Police say the skateboarder was not wearing a helmet during the incident and was taken to Atlantic General Hospital before being flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He was released the next morning.

No one in the vehicle was injured. Police say no charges will be filed against the teen.
