Pursuit in stolen vehicle leads to four arrests
DOVER, Del. – Four people were arrested following a pursuit in a stolen vehicle early Monday morning.
Shortly before 2 a.m., officers saw a stolen GMC van traveling northbound on South Dupont Highway, in the area of Lotus Street. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but it fled at a high rate of speed, leading officers to chase the vehicle into Camden before traveling west on Westville Road into Maryland. Delaware State Police and Maryland State Police were both called in for assistance, with the pursuit ending in Easton approximately 45 minutes later when the vehicle pulled into a private driveway.
When the vehicle stopped, the driver, identified as 38-year-old Joshua Collins, reportedly fled into a wooded area. He was quickly taken into custody with the assistance of Dover PD K-9 units.
The other occupants, identified as 32-year-old Holly Ramsey, 39-year-old David Evans, and 31-year-old Katie Miller, were also taken into custody. Police also found an 11-month-old child inside the vehicle. A subsequent search led to the discovery of approximately .005 grams of methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
It was also discovered that Collins and Ramsey were wanted by Delaware State Police for charges related to the 11-month-old found in the vehicle. The baby was turned over to the Delaware Division of Family Services.
All four individuals are being held in Maryland pending extradition to Delaware. Once in Delaware, they will each be charged accordingly.
Collins will be charged with disregarding a police officer signal, receiving stolen property over $1500, second degree conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple traffic offenses.
Ramsey will be charged with receiving stolen property over $1500, second degree conspiracy, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Evans will be charged with receiving stolen property over $1500 and second degree conspiracy.
Miller will be charged with receiving stolen property over $1500, second degree conspiracy, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
