Pocomoke clips Bennett with shutout effort
SALISBURY, Md. – Don’t let their record deceive you, Pocomoke has been a force in field hockey once again this fall. The Warriors continued their winning ways with a 3-0 shutout win at Bennett Thursday afternoon.
Dakota Trader, the senior leader for the Warriors, got Pocomoke on the board early in the first quarter.
Though they controlled the pace of play for much of the first half Pocomoke would not find the scoreboard until the final minute before half. Kendall Rayfield fired a rocket into traffic that found its way into the cage, giving the road squad a two-score lead at the break.
The persistent Warriors added another goal shortly after half, thanks to a tip-in by Maddie Esham, assisted by Aubrey Jackson Bowen.
Pocomoke has outscored in-state opponents 31-3, while sporting a 5-2 record.
