Local Superintendent receives national appointment to advisory committee
DOVER, Del.- Capital School District Superintendent Dr. Vilicia Cade recently received a national appointment to the Advisory Committee of the League of Innovative Schools.
The announcement comes from the global nonprofit Digital Promise which focuses on expanding digital equity in education. Dr. Cade is just one of eight superintendents on that committee. Their focus is on finding more ways to integrate technology into the learning environment, especially students in underserved communities.
47ABC got the chance to chat with Dr. Cade to get more insight about her role. “One is to increase awareness of opportunities for people who are sitting in the same seats, grappling with some of the same challenges around trying to re-imagine education in this changing educational landscape post-COVID,” she said.
“For me, the league is sort of a launching pad to lead the charge to bring opportunities to the first state and certainly to the students, families, and educators that I serve here in the Capital School District.”
Dr. Cade added that the district has been able to establish many new partnerships, including one with Verizon. We’re told a $6.9 million investment helped ensure that staff and students in CSD’s new middle school and their high school have access to the internet.
Dr. Cade will serve in the role for a minimum of three years.
