Laurel no match for Blue Raider defense and earthquake
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Two defensive touchdowns lifted the Woodbridge Blue Raiders past district rival Laurel, 24-8, Friday night.
Kam’Ren Johnson returned two fumbles for touchdowns in the first half. The Blue Raiders converted on both 2-point tries, extending their lead to 16 at halftime.
Woodbridge marched down the field on their first drive of the second half. Using most a wildcat formation, the Blue Raider offensive line had their way with Laurel, as they marched to the goalline. Traci Johnson scored a short touchdown run, followed by a 2-point conversion, giving the home squad a 24-0 advantage. The drive ate up over seven minutes of time, leaving Laurel without enough time to make a second half comeback.
Woodbridge (4-1) welcomes in Milford Thursday night at 7 PM. Laurel (2-3) continues to search for their first win against 2A competition. They will play Class 1A Seaford at home Thursday at 7 PM.
