Kent Co. Levy Court asks residents and businesses to glow green for veterans

Kent County Levy Court

DOVER, Del. – The Kent County Levy Court is showing support for Veterans in the area next month. In November they will be displaying green lights on the building as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans.

“We’re asking all our County residents and businesses to place a green light on their porch or in their businesses in that support,” says Kent County Levy Court Vice President Allan Angel.

This is the Levy Court’s first year participating in the nationwide effort. The goal is to raise awareness around the unique challenges faced by many veterans and also the resources available to assist veterans and their famlies. Levy Court Vice President Allan Angel is an army veteran, and understands the difficult time they can have transitioning from military service to civilian life.

“Studies show that 44 to 72 percent of our service members experience high levels of stress,” says Angel. “They are here for us and we need to be there for them.”

Officials are asking you to display your green lights November 6th through the 12th. If you do participate share a picture on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.

Angel adds, “Anytime you see a veteran, thank them for their service, because that’s why we have the freedoms of our precious lives that we have here today, because of that.”
