BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – A Greenwood man has been charged in connection to a recent fraud investigation.

On August 29th, troopers were called to Mechanical Welding LLC in Bridgeville for a reported fraud. It was learned that the business’ bank account had numerous fraudulently cashed checks between March and July 2023. Further investigation revealed that a former employee, identified as 21-year-old Brayan Ramirez, cashed checks by a mobile deposit from 2019 to 2020. He then reportedly altered those same checks in 2023 and cashed them again.

The total fraudulent amount of the duplicated checks was over $17,000.

Ramirez was charged with theft greater than $1500, second degree forgery, and falsifying business records, and was later released on his own recognizance.
