Dover woman seriously injured in crash, police investigating

DOVER, Del. – An investigation is underway following a crash that left a Dover woman seriously injured Tuesday evening.

According to police, the crash happened at around 5:30 p.m., in the area of 500 Persimmon Tree Lane. Investigation revealed that a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling eastbound on Persimmon Tree Lane, while the other vehicle, a 2006 Jeep Cherokee, was traveling westbound in the same area. For unknown reasons, the Jeep reportedly entered the eastbound lane traveling westbound, crashing into the Hyundai head-on.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 46-year-old Dover woman, was airlifted to a New Castle County hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Jeep, an 83-year-old Dover man, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
