Delmarva police agencies get ready for national drug take back day

SALISBURY, Md. – Do you have some pills at your house that you want to get rid of?

Tomorrow is national drug takeback day, and police agencies across the Eastern Shore are gearing up to collect unwanted drugs.

Lieutenant Adam Howard, with the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack, said giving the community the opportunity to get rid of unwanted prescriptions drugs can help limit the chances of children, or teens, getting a hold of them, and can potentially prevent a tragedy from occurring.

“Having these medicines around the home, of course, is prime for people, underaged children or minors, to have access to them,” Lieutenant Howard said. “They could overdose and have harmful medical effects from that, and [taking them] also prevents opioid abuse.”

You can drop off your unwanted prescriptions at the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack, in one of their designated drop boxes.
