Death investigation underway after body found in Indian River Bay

DAGSBORO, Del. – Delaware State Police are conducting a death investigation after a body was reportedly found in the Indian River Bay over the weekend.

At around 2 p.m. Saturday, DNREC received a call regarding an unoccupied vessel that was floating down the Indian River Bay near the Seagrass Plantation. Units tried to make contact with the registered owner but were not successful, and a search & rescue operation was launched between DNREC and the U.S. Coast Guard. The search on Saturday was unsuccessful.

On Sunday, units resumed the search and located a body. Delaware State Police were subsequently called in to conduct the death investigation. We’re told that at this time, there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances, and there is no threat to the public.
