Crash claims life of one, injures three others in Easton
EASTON, Md. – Easton Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of one and injured three others Sunday morning.
At around 8:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a single car crash in the area of Dover Road near Ashley Furniture. Officers arrived at the scene to find a 2005 Ford Explorer on its side in the roadway with four people outside suffering from severe injuries. Two of the victims, one of whom was an 8-year-old, were flown to Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, while another was flown to Maryland’s Shock Trauma. One victim was too critical to be flown and was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling southbound on Dover Road, crossing the center line and driving off the roadway. The vehicle then rolled multiple times before coming to a rest back onto the roadway.
The sole fatality, 24-year-old Felipe DeJesus Aldana Garcia, was fully ejected in the crash.
Two other victims, 31-year-old Melvin Obed Sanchez-Valle, and an 8-year-old male, remain in stable condition. The third victim, 32-year-Jose Eubaldo Mejia-Chacon, was treated and released.
The crash remains under investigation.
