UPDATE: Crash claims life of motorcyclist in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist Tuesday evening.

At around 5:15 p.m., police say a red 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling westbound on Hazlettville Road, east of Apple Grove School Road, when it tried to make a left turn into the driveway of a private residence in front of a black 2022 Kawasaki EX4 motorcycle that was traveling eastbound on Hazlettville Road. The Dodge subsequently hit the front tire of the motorcycle, causing the operator to be ejected.

The motorcyclist, an 18-year-old Dover man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family and relatives.

*Delaware State Police have identified the 18-year old as Ethan Statham of Dover.*

The driver of the Dodge, a 57-year-old Dover man, was not injured.
