Community members prepare for Fallen Officer 5K marathon

DELMAR, Del. – The first Fallen Officers Benefit 5K will be held on Saturday.

The event is organized by twins Seth and Cody Shubert, who own Totally Rad Supplements. Cody said he wanted to bring the event to Delmarva to help bring its community together and honor the lives of fallen officers.

Some of the money raised from the event will benefit the families of Glenn Hilliard and Keith Heacook,
two local law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.

“We wanted to give back to the community, but we also wanted to give back to corporal Heacook and corporal Hilliard’s families,” Shubert said. “They made the ultimate sacrifice when they died, so we wanted to go ahead and give back to them, and the families and what better way than a 5K?”

Registration for the event will begin at 8:30AM at Delmar High school.
the marathon kicks off at 9am.
