They work to find brand new clothes for children whose families lack the financial means, but they believe the best solution is education and making the students as comfortable as possible while they learn, and Bob Blouin is president of Clothing our Kids in Sussex county.

He says, “the school systems that we have here actually work if children are given the right tool.”

In this case, the right tool is proper clothing. From shirts to shoes to skirts and sweaters, clothing for kids provides any item of clothing that families lack the financial means to pay.

“Teachers get to feel very good about giving new clothes to children,” Blouin said. “We give only new clothes.”

He has helped countless struggling families, like when a fire broke out in Seaford almost a year ago.

“We put about fourteen or fifteen boxes together for as many children that were displaced because of the fire,” or when social services requested clothes for Ukrainian refugees, fleeing Russian attacks “who made their way to Sussex County somehow, and they got out with just the clothes on their back.”

“So, we were able to give the children clothing to get started in school,” and now Blouin is seeing teachers pay out of pocket for clothing for their students and he wants them to know that organizations like his, can help.

“We are seeing people in low income situations who are just barely getting by and again going through the schools, the teachers the nurses the counselors know the children that need clothing.”

“We do not want the teachers to take a dime out of their pocket for clothing these kids.”
