Celebrating National Farmers Day on the Eastern Shore
SNOW HILL, MD. – Today we celebrate National Farmers Day, and it hits close to home here, on the Eastern Shore.
47ABC caught up with Farmer Virgil Shockley in Snow Hill while he was harvesting his corn, to talk about the importance of farming in our region. He says without all of the work farmers dedicate to the agricultural industry- the poultry industry would be missing a crucial part of the whole operation.
“This provides what they need here, in order to tend the chickens, so the farming and the poultry industry work hand-in-hand, in order to provide a living for each other,” Shockley said.
While Shockley said he looks forward to his fall harvest every year, he’s also excited to take a little break this winter, for some much-needed rest, before next season.
