Cape Henlopen takes down Smyrna
LEWES, Del.– Cape Henlopen would be dominant on both sides of the ball, shutting down the Smyrna Eagles 21-6. Maurki James led the way for the Vikings, scoring three total touchdowns, including a defensive touchdown.
The Vikings held the Eagles scoreless for the first three and a half quarters before Brandon West dove for a score on the goalline for Smryna. The Vikings’ defense showed toughness and skill, stopping Smyrna on the goal line as time ran out in the first half.
Cape Henlopen took a 14-0 lead at halftime and virtually ended the game with two minutes left when James scored his final touchdown of the night. The Vikings’ three takeaways on the night stymied the Eagles’ offense.
Cape Henlopen moves to 5-2 on the season and Smyrna falls to 2-6 on the year.
